Packing the baubles away? Here's how to store them safely away
Taking down your Christmas decorations in the new year can be a real chore compared to 'Decking the Halls". Why not get a little more organised and make the packing away less exhausting!
1 Avoid tangled lights - there is nothing worse than finding a knotted mass of tree lights when you open your storage boxes the following year, so firstly check all the bulbs are working, replacing any that are blown, before wrapping the lights around your hand and securing the loop with a cable tie. If you have more than one set of lights then add labels to each so that you know which tree they will go on.
2 Pack your baubles in recycled boxes - wooden wine boxes with the slide over lids or shoe boxes work well. Wrap each bauble in tissue, greaseproof, and then place carefully in the box. If you have lots of baubles and multiple trees then it is best to pack them in zip top freezer bags, keeping colours, styles, and sizes together, and then labelling them so that you know which tree they are for.
3 Delicate baubles - if you have any small, delicate baubles then pack them in egg boxes wrapped in tissue or cotton wool. Add a rubber band, or string to keep it closed and then a label. These can then be packed in a larger box and are easy to find.
When you 'Deck the Halls' next year you will be glad that you took the time to pack things carefully away, so avoiding frustrating and the extra cost of replacing broken decorations!
